ProClass Database Release 5.0 (Sept. 1999) This release is based on PIR release 61.05 (August 1999), SwissProt release 38.0 (July 1999) and ProSite release 16.0 (July 1999). ProClass_Motif subdatabase includes new ProSite family members identified using our GeneFIND family identification system (Version 5.0, Sept. 1999). For more information, please contact with the database's developer Dr. Cathy Wu at wuc@nbrf.georgetown.edu or go to the ProClass Website at http://pir.georgetown.edu/gfserver/proclass.html . The ProClass database is a non-redundant protein database organized according to family relationships as defined collectively by ProSite patterns and PIR superfamilies. The ProClass database can facilitate protein family information retrieval, unveil domain and family relationships, and classify multi-domained proteins, by combining global and motif similarities into a single family organization scheme. This directory includes the following files: 1. PCFam.dat ProClass Family data file, which gives the detailed information about each ProClass family along with links to the corresponding PCSeq entries. 2. PCSeq.dat ProClass Sequence data file, which gives the detailed information about each sequence in ProClass database. 3. PCMotif.dat ProClass Motif data file gives the detailed information about each ProClass Motif description and its membership listing. 4. PCMotif.seq ProClass Motif sequence file gives all motif sequences in FASTA format. 5. PCMotif.aln ProClass Motif alignment file gives motif alignments generated by using ClustalW program. 6. PCSeq.fasta.Z ProClass Sequences in FASTA format. 7. 0README This file.
