PRotein Ontology (PRO) Release 1.0 Note 31-March-2008 The Protein Ontology Consortium--Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC), The Jackson Laboratory, and the Department of Philosophy, State University of New York at Buffalo--is pleased to announce PRO Release 1.0 (31-March-2008). PRO describes the relationships of proteins and protein evolutionary classes, delineates the multiple protein forms of a gene locus (ontology for protein forms), and interconnects existing ontologies. Further information is available at http://pir.georgetown.edu/pro/. PRO Release 1.0 consists of 667 terms all with definitions, comprising 79 proteins involved in the TGF-beta pathway as listed by KEGG database (ID:hsa04350). This release is based on UniProtKB Release 13.1 and iProClass Release 3.47. Note that the ontology structure and PRO IDs have changed from the prototype version. PRO IDs will be stable from this release on. The mapping of old to new IDs is in the pro2npro_ID.txt file within the ftp site ftp://ftp.pir.georgetown.edu/databases/ontology/pro_obo/.
